Alabama White BBQ Chicken Skewers

One of my favorite things about bbq'ing is getting to try out new bbq sauces and marinades. Some are more tangy than others, some more sweet than others, some based on mustard, some based on ketchup and some based on vinegar. Each is unique and brings a different dimension to your food. My Alabama White BBQ sauce is spicy and tangy and definitely will bring a different dimension to your food... an awesome dimension that is! Seriously, this stuff is great. It's easy to make, it can be used as marinade, a basting sauce or stand alone sauce and can be used on practically anything that you can grill.

Alabama White BBQ Sauce
  • 1/2 cup or more Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup or more Mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbl Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Tbl Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 clove Fresh Garlic

Wisk all ingredients together in a small bowl, refrigerate until you are ready to cook.

I found these amounts to produce enough basting sauce for 4 decent sized chicken skewers. The key is to keep equal parts cider vinegar and mayo and the rest can be adjusted to your liking.

Chicken Skewers
  • 1 lb chicken tenderloins
  • 1 medium green pepper
  • 1 medium yellow pepper (any other color than green really)
  • 1 large sweet onion
  • Fresh Ground Black Pepper
  • Crushed sea salt

Instructions
Clean and cut the chicken, onion and the yellow and green peppers into skewer sized chunks. Pull out your skewers and start assembling. Once your done, season them with pepper and salt. Viola!

Heat up the grill to a good "chicken cooking" temperature. I usually start my grill out on high until it heats up (~400°-500°), and then I tone it down to right above medium heat. I love the char so I tend to keep a higher flame, adjust yours to your liking.

Place the skewers onto the grill and then brush on some of the Alabama BBQ sauce. Then, each time you go to turn them, baste them with some more of the bbq sauce. I usually flip my skewers 4 or 5 times in the course of grilling them, so each time I .

  • Sounds good and even a cooking dummy like myself can make that bbq sauce. I'll have to give it a whirl one day.

  • Yeah the sauce is killer and like I said in the post, you can use it on practically on anything.
